My favorite desert in the world has always been a chocolate milkshake. To this day, it's what I crave when I think about ice-cream. Unfortunately, I've since developed a wicked case of lactose intolerance and it's a no milk rule.
Luckily, we live in the times we do and I've found an alternative that hits all my milkshake buttons and is actually pretty good for you. This smoothie is creamy and sweet without being too sweet. It's a great drink for the morning, the cacao delivers a hit of caffeine without making you jittery, the banana offers a bit of sugar, and is a great source of potassium, and the oatly is a great source of protein. If you want The chia seeds add a bit more creaminess if you let them sit in the smoothie for a half an hour or so.
Freezing the banana for about a half an hour before blending is a good trick for making this extra cold and milkshake-like.
- Banana Cacao Smoothie
- 1 frozen banana
- 1 cup of oatly or coconut water
- 2 tablespoons cacao powder
- 1 tablespoon chia seeds
Cut up the frozen banana. Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.
